I signed up for the GlossyBox subscription on August 30, 2016 and on September 1, 2016 the August box was already being sent to me. Very impressive.
When my first GlossyBox subscription box arrived two weeks later I was amazed at how pretty all of the packaging layers were. The shipping box is covered with the GlossyBox logo and when I opened it up I found another box, this one pink. I took it out, removed the lid and found a bow tied black ribbon with a beautifully printed pamphlet inside. Under that was tissue paper and inside the tissue paper was some stuffing (not really enough though because everything had been moving around) and the products. Overall the GlossyBox packaging is a serious job. It is professional, wonderful, impressive and completely lovely.
Invisibobble The Traceless Hair Ring – 3 pack
I have very fine hair and over the years have had the struggle to keep all kinds hair accessories from sliding out of it. I was really excited to try these though especially because I hate the mark left in my hair from using hair elastics.
Day 1 – wrapped around twice
Day 2 – wrapped around four times
Day 3 – wrapped around five times
Day 4 – this band was fully stretched out and I threw it away
Update of several weeks later – I didn’t actually throw the hair ring away and when I found it again, it had reverted back to its original shape, just a bit twisted.
Based on conversations I have had with other people, I think these might work better on thicker hair but I’ll keep trying.
Wella Professionals Oil Reflections Smoothing Oil – 30ml
This hair oil spray contains macadamia seeds, avocado oil and Vitamin E. It can be used for smoothing, protection before styling, and to add extra shine.
This oil as a really lovely fragrance to it and it felt so soft and nice on my hair. Unfortunately my hair is so chemically damaged and frizzy, the oil wasn’t able to contain it. It might work better on less damaged hair though.
Too Faced Mascara Melt Off – 0.04oz
Cleansing Oil, Waterproof Mascara Dissolver
1. Use the precision wand to coat lashes base-to-tip
2. Leave on for at least 60 seconds to allow the product to penetrate and condition lashes
3. Sweep away the dissolved mascara with a damp cloth or make-up wipe
Oh my gosh! I don’t know if someone gave up their first born or not but this stuff is absolutely amazing and seriously one of my new favourite products, if not my favourite. It works exactly as it claims to. It is amazing, easy and super simple. Apply, wait, gently wipe. That is it, all done. Not one eyelash lost.
De Bruyere Paris After Sun Lotion – 50 ml
Excerpt from Website: Moisturizing and restructuring milk, enriched with Monoi of French Polynesia. This after sun lotion soothes, nourishes and protects sensitive skin after sun exposure. Skin is replenished and hydrated. Made in France. Paraben and silicone free.
This lotion has a summer tropical smell with a hint of a perfume undertone. Unfortunately, I received this box when there weren’t any hot days with the chance of getting a tan or a burn left, but I will be ‘wintering’ in Australia and New Zealand this year so I’ll be taking it with me.
Borghese Fango Active Mud for Face and Body – 28g
Excerpt from Website: Mineral rich mud derived from traditional Tuscan treatments, its deep down purifying power purges and minimizes pores. It exfoliates and helps surface cell turnover, imparting clarity. It hydrates and firms reducing fine lines and providing smooth, toned texture. Infused with Sweet Almond and Avocado Oils, this mud detoxifies and does away with dull skin, leaving skin radiant and refreshed.
Instructions: Apply a thick layer to cleansed face and body. Avoid eyes and mouth. Leave on for 2-5 minutes. Wet a sponge or washcloth and rinse with cool water. Use at least once a week.
I’ve always been a big fan of mud treatments but unfortunately when I tried this one, my face was still trying to calm down from previous product testing so I only used it on my neck. I can’t tell you if it minimizes and purges pores or firms fine lines, but I can tell you my neck felt hydrated and quite lovely after I used it. The one very small downside I noticed, was the fact that it does have a strong fragrance.
Trifle Cosmetics Lip Parfait – Guilty Pug
Excerpt from Website: A lip treatment and lipstick in one beautifully whimsical stick, our Lip Parfait applies like butter to impart a soft, moisturized shade of colour to your lips. Infused with cocoa butter as well as silicon-coated colour pigments. Vegan, Hypoallergenic, Vitamin E, non-comedogenic and no parabens, phthalates or mineral oil.
What a really fun lipstick. It has a decorative paper tube with a metal interior tube holding the actual lipstick. There is a very light, fruity fragrance and a soft, moisturizing feel to it. It is also softly pigmented so it has a more natural colour without it giving you a really strong lip.
I really enjoyed this box, from the packaging through to the products. You can also collect Glossydots by completing surveys (reviewing the products) as well as referring friends, that are used toward getting one of the Limited Edition specialty boxes free. The only problem I had was when I was signing up, the computer didn’t like my street name as a name so I had to email customer service. After five days of not receiving a reply, I called and was helped very quickly.
