I wasn’t super excited by the options available for the FabFitFun Fall 2019 subscription box but I also wasn’t hating them. There were some fun items, and I really enjoyed several of the ones everyone received, that were not part of the customization.
My Mom gets the box too though, and she was out of town this time so wasn’t able to customize. She has also filled out a few surveys, etc where she continuously says she doesn’t like or use the face products. Other than the scarf in this Fall box, everything else she received was face products. So she ended up with a box filled almost entirely of things she won’t ever use. She got the detox pads, the Pure C, the mini eye essentials, and the gold eye masks.
She isn’t happy. And I don’t blame her.
I have filled out several things saying I can only wear silver jewellery because of my skin tone and you know what? They never sent me silver jewellery. It was always gold. Thankfully for the last year I was an annual member, so I could customize and chose other items instead.
My point here is nothing is perfect, and not everyone will be happy 100% of the time. But I have to say FabFitFun has quality products and excellent value for the cost.
These are the items each member received with no customization.
Aveda damage remedy
A nice consistency, not thick like a cream but not overly runny either. I almost always love the scents of Aveda (website) products and this one is no different. It’s milder in fragrance, and I couldn’t tell you what it smells like but it is a soft, toned down scent with a hint of citrus in there.
It is a damage remedy for heat damage though, which isn’t a problem for me. While I personally would have preferred the damage remedy for chemical damage, Aveda is still a brand favourite of mine so I’m not complaining it was in this season’s box. Aveda offers great products that I love.
Harper + Ari Exfoliating Sugar Cubes
I enjoy body scrubs under normal circumstances but you send me something all cute like these sugar cubes by Harper + Ari (website) and I’m going to be super excited to try them. Also, they smell divine. Like I want to just keep opening the jar and smelling them, divine.
I pick-up a green apple scent which is always a nice refreshing, clean smell in my mind. They contain shea butter and aloe vera gel so they should offer moisturizing properties too.
One cube is enough to scrub over my entire body and it doesn’t lose its shape other than to decrease in size. I felt like I received some moisturizing qualities from these sugar cubes but not enough to make the floor of my tub or my feet slippery.
Human + Kind Body Soufflé
This Human + Kind (website) Body Soufflé is natural, ethically sourced, paraben free, with no animal testing, and suitable for vegans.
Unfortunately, it has a floral scent which I’m not fond of at all. It’s not thick like a body butter but a bit thinner like a lotion. My skin felt soft after using it though. I would have liked to use this more but I’m not sure I can personally deal with the strong floral scent. Which is too bad cause I love body lotions.

Anthropologie Travel Yoga Mat
I’ve travelled many times somewhere and wished I had a travel yoga mat. I even bought a yoga mat towel to use instead so I’m excited about this Anthropologie Travel Yoga Mat (website).
First thing, as soon as I opened the plastic bag this mat was in, it left my entire apartment with an overpowering chemical smell. It reminds me of nail polish remover and it is really, really strong. It gave me a headache so I had to put it into its own room to air out.
The yoga mat is made with rubber and PVC and it is 24” x 68” so it won’t be an easy item to travel with if you need to keep the weight down. It’s smaller than a normal size yoga mat when folded up, but it’s just got a bit of weight to it. The mat is thinner so it won’t have as much padding but it allows you to take it along and provide a clean surface. It also has less traction because of the texture so you might want to be barefoot or wear traction socks.
As per the instructions I unfolded the mat to air it out and within minutes, I was struggling with a headache and allergy type breathing issues. The chemical smell was so overwhelming for me. I wiped it down with yoga mat cleaner which made it better but it still smells after being unfolded for a day. Just not as bad.
I think this mat will always have a bit of the smell because of what it’s made from but if you keep it unfolded like the instructions describe, it’s not bad. I have a sensitive sense of smell though so it might not even bother most people.
After several days though it is much better and now just contains more of a normal plastic smell when you stick your nose right up to it.

I love scarfs so I really couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get another one.
And I love this Plush (website) ultra soft plaid scarf. Made from polyester and viscose this scarf is soft and light-weight. A wonderful mix of black (charcoal), navy blue, and cream, make the plaid pattern.
It is so versatile and I’m looking forward to wearing it. Well, I’m not looking forward to the weather change that will have to happen but this scarf is so nice.

I’ve been using the same wallet for over 10 years so I am really looking forward to finally having a new one.
The Kut from the Kloth (website) wallet is a bit basic with 8 slots for cards and a cash pocket but sometimes, this is all you want with you. It means I won’t be able to use it every day but I will enjoy using it on other days when I’m not carrying as much.
I like how simple, squishy, and thin it is.

I wasn’t sure which option to pick but the exfoliate I use often is almost out. Lava Magik from The Better Skin Co (website) is a cleanser, exfoliator, and mask. It claims to give a youthful appearance with ingredients like French lava, calendula, grapeseed, cucumber, and chamomile.
How you apply it and the length of time you leave it on your face determines whether you use it as a cleanser, exfoliate, or mask.

Oh my gosh I am so excited about this Epare (website) dual salt & pepper mill. I have lived longer on my own than I did with my Mom but I still don’t have shakers or a mill. Yayyyyy, now I’m gonna have one.
I can already tell I will enjoy using this mill, I just have to go buy the salt and pepper to fill it up with. It is dual sided with space for two different products. Like salt on one side and pepper on the other.

I wasn’t really wanting any of these but recently I’ve been thinking I should get a toner. Problem solved. While there is nothing listed in the ingredient list, the scent of this SKIN & Co Truffle Therapy (website) face toner reminds me of coconut or sunscreen.
So far, the cotton pad has come away from my face free of any dirt or grime but maybe there are things being removed I can’t see. I’ll keep using it and see how my skin does. I have had no reaction to the product yet either.
As you can see, I found good things and a few unexpectedly not so good things about the FabFitFun Fall 2019 subscription box. Overall, I’m happy with the products I received though.
