Well, I bit the bullet and finally bought the yearly membership. It meant that for the FabFitFun Winter 2018 Subscription Box I was able to have more customization options. So far I’m really glad I did too because I’m pretty sure I would have ended up with another lipstick if I didn’t. Lipstick and exfolients seem to be the items I can almost guarantee to receive in my boxes. But for the Winter 2018 box, I won’t have either. Plus, I save $20 when I purchase a yearly membership as opposed to buying each box individually four times a year. Yayyyy!!
These first three items I received in my box were a complete surprise as they were not part of the customization. Every box contained them. I like that while some things can be customized, there are still others that are a surprise.
Thrive Causemetics Brilliant Eye Brightener
This eye highlighter is in a stick form and I was able to apply it to use as an eyeshadow. I liked the colour and it worked well as a subtle eye shadow.
Blaq Hydrogel Eye Masks with Hyaluronic Acid
I haven’t had the chance to try these eye masks yet but I’m really looking forward to them. It’s the first time I’ve received eye masks in one of my FabFitFun boxes.
AHAVA Hydration Cream Mask
I chose to share this face mask instead of useing it. My face is way to sensitive to apply an unknown hydration mask. I know other people love it though.
For every Customization Option there is also a Choose For Me! Option. This allows the FabFitFun crew to pick for you if you would rather be surprised.
The first three customization options are for everyone and there are two-three options for each customization.
Bearpaw Combo Set: Headband and Pop-Top Glove Duo
Moroccan Gold Series Treatment Mask
I almost picked the Bearpaw combo set but I would never wear a headband so I figured I would try this Moroccan Gold Series Treatment Mask (website) instead. My hair is so damaged, dry, and frizzy I figure one of these times I will try something that helps.
To start, this is so thick. It’s a pot of heavy, thick, cream. I also wasn’t overly fond of the fragrance but that said, I’ve also had worse.
I worked the cream into my freshly washed hair while I was in the shower and let it sit for probably at least 10 minutes. The instructions state to apply generously to washed hair, massaging into hair and scalp, then leave for 5 minutes before you rinse well. I just wore it until my shower was complete though and I tend to take longer showers.
While I was rinsing it out I immediately knew my hair was in better shape than after using my normal conditioner. It didn’t feel as dry and it wasn’t a matted mess. After I towel dried my hair, I started brushing it. Normally I apply a leave-in conditioner after I towel dry my hair and even then, it’s still a knotted cluster at the back of my head. But after using this Moroccan Gold Series Treatment Mask I only had a few knots to brush out.
I’ve used this mask a few more times to see how it continued to leave my hair and after several uses I am still loving it.
Note: As you rinse this mask out of your hair in the shower, the bottom of the tub becomes slippery so please watch your footing.
H Halston Jewellery Portfolio
Lele Sadoughi Silver Cicle Necklace
Oribe Gold Lust Dry Shampoo
Honestly I didn’t feel I needed either of these options so I got the one that I felt I could possibly use. The Oribe Gold Lust Dry Shampoo (website). I never use dry shampoo but I have so far been unimpressed with everything jewellery related from FabFitFun. Now I just need to learn to use the dry shampoo and start fancy styling my hair. At least occasionally anyway.
PUR Be Your Selfie Palette
Richer Poorer Reina Over The Knee Textured Sock
I love socks. I love decorative socks, warm socks, short socks, I just really love socks. I don’t know why, don’t judge. My entire life I have had large calves though so I wasn’t actually sure if these would be a good choice. I picked these Richer Poorer Reina Over The Knee Textures Socks (website) anyway.
The knit is loose so the socks stretched and fit my calves though. But because the knit is a bit bigger and looser than most socks I prefer to wear these as sort of slipper socks for me when I am trying to warm up my feet.
Plus, they are made with recycled yarn.
Sherrie Matthews Acupuncture Jade Stone Roller
I’ve seen these acupuncture rollers before so I took advantage of the convenience of it being offered in the FabFitFun Winter 2018 box and bought it. They are facial massage tools that are supposed to have healing properties that relax the nervous system and help remove toxins. It apparently has other benefits like relieving puffiness, minimizing the appearance of fine lines, improving lymphatic drainage, and even restoring facial skin tone.
The Sherrie Matthews Acupuncture Jade Stone Roller (website)
The next three customization options were only available for the select members, those that have purchased the yearly membership. After continuously getting lipsticks and exfolients chosen for me I decided I wanted to make my own choices. Well that and I had seen a spoiler for the FabFitFun Winter 2018 subscription box and I really wanted to make sure I got the colour I wanted for it.
Mark & Graham Colorblock Throw in Gray/Ivory or Natural/Ivory
Everyone was getting this Mark & Graham Colorblock Throw (website) but I didn’t want to receive the natural/ivory blanket so I was hoping by becoming a select member I would get to choose my colour. I was able to so I chose the Gray/Ivory colour.
The blanket is very soft and is made with a large spaced knit. It’s a bit delicate but it is pretty, comfy, and warm too.
Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Meringue
Chic & Tonic I’ll Toast To That! 4-Piece Coaster Set
Brooke Burke Body Sliders
Well after customization had only been open for like 2-3 hours, the coasters were already sold out. And if I had to choose a lipstick the Bite brand is one of my favourite, but I didn’t want lipstick. So, I chose the Brooke Burke (website) Body Sliders.
Body sliders kick your exercise workout up a notch. They add that extra layer of workout for core muscles and others. Unfortunately I won’t be able to use these right now, especially without supervision because I have some injuries I’m trying to heal from but I will use them at some point. I think when used correctly they could really help work the small muscles I’ve been working on that almost everyone forgets about.
Way Of Will Elevate Essential Oil Set: Sweet Orange Oil & Eucalyptus Oil
Anthropologie x Mer-Sea & Co. Sea Whip Body Cream in Coconut Sugar
This was another tough decision because I wanted both of them for my FabFitFun Winter 2018 box. In the end though I decided I had more than enough eucalyptus oil so I didn’t need to choose the essential oil set. Besides I really love body lotions and coconut sugar sounded like a scent I would enjoy.
Apparently the Anthropologie x Mer-Sea & Co Sea Whip Body Cream is made for dry skin as it’s aloe-rich and is supposed to help heal & nourish the skin. It also contains sea whip extract and sea salt.
Honestly the scent of this body cream was not at all what I was expecting. It has hints of coconut and it does have a slightly sweet undertone to it but the most obvious scent is something I can’t define. I didn’t really like it actually. I want to say it almost smells floral, probably because I don’t like floral scents, but that isn’t what it smelt like. I can only assume it is the Sea Whip Extract because I don’t think I have ever smelt it before.
The lotion absorbs really well though and there is no greasy film left behind. My skin felt soft and the tightness of my dry skin (thanks winter) was relieved. I have completely used this lotion up and it impressed me quite a bit, just maybe not the scent so much.
If you would like to treat yourself, or someone else, to this awesome subscription box, you can use the link and coupon code provided on our Yup….We Like These page to purchase a FabFutFun membership. The spoilers and the customization for the FabFitFun Spring 2019 subscription box look great.
The FabFitFun Fall 2018 Subscription Box was one I was really waiting for. I didn’t see any of the spoilers for it but once we were able to make our choices, I knew. I was really going to like the contents of the Fall 2018 box. The items that sold it for me were the tote and the wireless headphones.
So without any more delay, here is what was in the box FabFitFun Fall 2018 Subscription Box.
I don’t wear a lot of foundation but I randomly do so receiving a BeautyBlender (website) was a great idea by the FabFitFun team. I don’t know enough about them or use them enough to know which manufacturers are the better option but I’m happy with this one.
GlamGlow Bubblesheet Oxyfenating Deep Cleanse Mask (2 pack)
I haven’t been eating so well lately and my face has been showing the effects so I haven’t been able to try these GlamGlow (website) cleansing masks yet. But I will update this article as soon as I do. I’m also excited to try them cause they look cool.
Oh this mask was amazing. You damped your face then apply the very wet mask. Wait 3 minutes for it to do its job before you take off the mask. Rub in the bubbles left on your skin then fully rinse your face.
While I was wearing the mask I could feel it tingling. It felt so cool. When it was on my face I watched the mask turn white from bubbles. Then I took off the mask and the part touching my skin didn’t have any bubbles on it at all. The only downside is it kinda dried out my skin. That’s probably just because my skin is quite dry to start with which is why I usually only use a milk cleanser. I really liked this mask though. It ended up being an experience.
Simply Whimsical Tea Towels
These Simply Whimsical (website) tea towels are a waffle textured, neutral tea towel that would work for almost every kitchen décor. They are white with a light grey line pattern. Considering my room is painted a dark grey they work really well for me but they really are quite neutral. They are also quite absorbent. I find some tea towels can be rough and not very absorbent but these don’t just move the moisture around, they absorb it.
Skin&Co Roma Blue in Capri
This refreshing Skin&Co (website) shower gel is green not blue like the name implies. I like my shower gel to lather up and this one does so I was impressed with it. The label describes ‘notes of alpine rose, sage, wild basil, and autumn blossom’ but I honestly can’t tell you what scent it is. Maybe I’m not overly neutral because I like most shower gels, but I like this one.
Choices For Everyone
Crown Brush 6-piece Brush Set in Black & Rose Gold or Silver
Vince Camuto Luck Tote in Black or Red Desert
I was tempted to choose both these items but in the end, I decided I don’t need all those make-up brushes. I’m very happy with my choice though because I’ve been using the special FabFitFun Vince Camuto (website) Luck Tote every day since I received my FabFitFun Fall 2018 Subscription Box. It’s the perfect size to carry my laptop, a notebook, a bottle of water, and any other items I may need. It’s a big bag with only one pocket near the top of the bag but it’s not too big that I can’t find things. The pocket is a bit annoying though. It doesn’t stay in place and I have had small items fall out.
Alfred French Coffee Press
Okay, I don’t drink coffee or tea but I get a lot of guests who do so I figured I would choose the Alfred (website) french coffee press. I had a Keurig and I figured giving my coffee loving guests another option would be nice of me. Turns out it was a necessity.
I was trying to clean my house and I was being lazy about putting the coffee maker back in the cupboard. Sticking it in the oven seemed like a good idea. I guess it was until I turned the oven on to cook something and I forgot the Keurig machine was in there. If you were wondering, those things bake rather quickly. The main body was just starting to twist and change shape but the tray on the bottom where the cups sat, yeah, that melted fast. So fast it was dripping through the oven racks. As you can guess, I was very happy I chose the Alfred French Coffee Press in my FabFitFun Fall 2018 Subscription Box.
Catherine Malandrino Umbrella in Red Floral or Black/White Floral
Cylo Cobra Bluetooth Wireless Earbuds in Black or White
I chose the Cylo Cobra Bluetooth Wireless Earbuds (website) in black and I was really excited to receive them because I’ve never had wireless headphones before. I’m not sure if I would buy these ones again though. A huge annoyance is the fact that I never know when they are close to running out of charge until they just stop working. The battery sign on my phone shows I have battery charge then in no time the earbuds cutout. It’s very, very frustrating. This happens with my friend’s too and hers are a different brand so maybe it is all wireless earbuds.
Also, a problem for people like me with small ears is these don’t sit inside my ears like they are supposed to. I’m using the smallest rubber buds that were included but they still don’t fit. They continuously fall out. Kinda annoying when you are trying to have a conversation.
Choices For Select Members Only (non-members receive one product from each group but you don’t get a chance to make a choice)
Grown Alchemist Hydra-Repair Day Cream
Grown Alchemist Hydra-Restore Cream Cleanser
Grown Alchemist Polishing Facial Exfoliant
I’m not a select member so I didn’t have a choice with these items in my FabFitFun Fall 2018 box. I received the exfoliant and while I really do not need any more exfoliants, I swear there is one in almost every FabFitFun box, I really like this one. The Grown Alchemist Polishing Facial Exfoliant (website) is gentle enough to use daily and contains ingredients like mandarin & grapefruit peel oils as well as evening primrose and rosehip oils. My face liked it.
Farmacy Dew It All Total Eye Cream
Cuccio Somatology Yogahhh! Detox Bath
Touch In Sol Metallist Liquid Foil Lipstick Duo in ‘Penny’
I was so happy with the FabFitFun Fall 2018 Subscription Box team for sending me the Touch In Sol Metallist Liquid Foil Lipstick Duo in Penny (website). I freakin’ love this lipstick and wear them both all the time. The only downside is I wish I had received it in the spring box instead though. I would have really loved the colours in the summer with a tan. Even when it doesn’t feel like I have any gloss (it feels like gloss) left on my lips, the colour remains, which is wonderful.
This season’s box was sponsored by the Luna Rica Bar so we received one for free. Mine was the Salted Caramel Nut flavour and I liked it. The texture was like one of those items made with dates and I couldn’t really taste the salted caramel flavour but it was a good snack.
FabFitFun Winter 2018 Subscription Box Spoiler:
So far there has been one spoiler for the winter 2018 box, a really nice looking woollen throw blanket. Yayyyyy, I love comfy stuff in the winter!
I think I was even a bit more excited than normal about the FabFitFun Summer 2018 subscription box. Not only because I wasn’t as impressed with the Spring box as I normally am but also the first spoiler released was awesome. Then I received the email to customize my box and make my choices. Once I saw the choices I knew I was going to love the Summer 2018 box.
Pier 1 Imports Marble Ring Dish
This ring dish by Pier 1 (website) is not only pretty, it’s the perfect size to keep beside your kitchen sink, on your bedside table, or on your desk. Anywhere you find you have a habit of taking off your rings. No one wants to lose jewellery and this dish keeps your rings safe for you. I don’t wear a lot of jewellery so I appreciate the FabFitFun Summer 2018 subscription box containing something to hold the few things I do have instead of sending me more I won’t wear.
FOREO LUNA fofo
This was the first spoiler released for the FabFitFun Summer 2018 box and it was a doozie. FabFitFun and Foreo Luna (website) collaborated to exclusively offer this to members. They also released an app to work with it. The app and the device work together to analyzing your skin by giving you instructions to follow. All the information gives you a skin age. You also use both to kick up your cleansing routine a notch.
Recently I’ve been feeling very self-conscience about my skin so I was really looking forward to the analyzing part of this device. Now I’m living in denial-land, crying myself to sleep, and wondering where it all went wrong. Apparently, my skin age is older than my actual age. And instead of understanding this is a problem that will take time to fix, I analyze my skin every couple of days to see if it’s changed. It hasn’t. I am saddened and disturbed by this knowledge; I also find it helpful to work towards a solution. Hopefully. Maybe ignorance is bliss.
COOLA Face Sport SPF 50 White Tea Moisturizer
I haven’t tried this COOLA Face Sport (website) lotion but I do like the fact it is antioxidant rich, certified organic, as well as sweat & water proof. My face hates moisturizers mixed with SPF plus it is highly sensitive to SPF in general so I rarely put sunblock on it. Like the FabFitFun Summer 2017 subscription box, I will share this with someone who can test it for me though. I just have to find someone. We haven’t had the best weather here yet.
The rest of the following items were choices.
Choices for every member:
There were two choices of different items for each member to make. Of course, for each choice you can pick the ‘Surprise Me’ option instead and have the FabFitFun team choose for you, but I enjoy having a say in a few items.
First choice was between two different patterns for a Summer & Rose beach towel (palm print or pineapple print) or two different patterns for a Yumi Kim Makeup Train Case (floral print or navy).
Summer & Rose Palm Print Beach Towel
I’m guessing this Summer & Rose (website) beach towel started as a white microfibre towel that was painted with a cute, bright, summer style palm pattern. I say this because only the tops of each of the fibres has colour on it. As soon as you brush your hand around, you can see the white under the colours. I don’t have a beach towel so I am happy to finally have one and being microfiber means it will be absorbent without having to carry around a heavy, bulky towel. Plus, apparently sand won’t stick to it so I’m looking forward to testing out that claim.
Second choice was between three things. An Erth Tu Y Yo Ring (adjustable), Jaboneria Marianella Hawaiian Black Lava Body Caviar, or Aromatherapy Associates De-Stress Muscle Gel.
Aromatherapy Associates De-Stress Muscle Gel
This Aromatherapy Associates (website) muscle gel isn’t filled with chemicals or even peppermint so it doesn’t feel like it is burning for a long period of time. It’s more subtle. It contains several essential oils that provide a mild cooling sensation for a short period of time. Just enough to let you know you rubbed some kind of sport-like muscle gel on your body. But without the medicinal scent.
I was having a neck cramp with muscle spasms one day and applying heat wasn’t working. Then I remembered this gel. I applied some to my neck and within a short time the spams stopped. The neck was still cramped but it wasn’t quite as bad. I’m not saying this is a miracle solution for aches, but for me, it helped loosen things enough that I wasn’t struggling with the pain as much.
I also paid an additional $10 to add the following to my FabFitFun Summer 2018 subscription box:
Jaboneria Marianella Hawaiian Black Lava Body Caviar
This Jaboneria Marianella (website) body scrub feels great. I’m a bit biased though because I really enjoy body scrubs. The one downside is you need to stir this body caviar every time you use it to mix the ingredients together because the oils separate so quickly. It left my skin feeling soft and moisturized though. *A bit of warning, the oils in this product can cause slippery feet even if you aren’t using it on your feet. Slipping during, and leaving, the shower are possible. *
These were the additional choices if you are a select member. For non-select members, the choice was made for us by the wonderful FabFitFun employees.
tarte tarteist PRO to go palette and sex kitten liquid liner or what I received,
tarte tarteist PRO glow highlight & contour palette
This tarte (website) palette looks great. I love the fact it contains several highlighter and contour colour choices and two large mirrors. The problem for me is that I don’t need any more. So, while I really like this palette, I’ll probably end up sharing it with someone else instead.
ELEMIS Papaya Enzyme Peel or what I received,
ORLANDO PITA PLAY Atmos-Shield Hair Protectant Treatment Spray
In the last week, I’ve had three people pick apart my hair. “You need to make changes to your hair, it looks awful and it isn’t helping you.” “The colour isn’t a good one, it drains you.” “Your hair is too long, it drags you down.” “Your hair is frizzy; can’t you do something about that?” Sadly, these were comments made by family and friends trying to be helpful, so you get an idea of how bad my hair looks. Then, I opened my FabFitFun Summer 2018 box to find this Orlando Pita Play (website) treatment spray. I was super excited to see what it could do with the frizz from colouring my hair.
Sadly, this treatment spray does not control my frizz. It does do a bang-up job coating the hair though, leaving it feeling silky and soft. I don’t use heat on my hair because I don’t want to damage it more than it already is but I really like how this spray can also be applied to protect against UV rays from the sun. It will take a bit more use to decide if it really helps but I still love the way it makes my hair feel so I’ll be continuing to use it no matter.
Minor History Post Script Wallet, Maji Sports Loop Resistance Band, or what I received,
Vasanti Brighten Up! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator
Well, I would have preferred the resistance band instead of another exfoliating cleanser but I am still excited by this Vasanti (website) product. I’ve used it a few times. The first time my face broke out quite a bit. It might have been coincidence though because I have used it several times since without any problems. I have very sensitive skin and other than the first breakout, my face wasn’t bothered by the abrasiveness or the ingredients.
Because this is a cleanser and exfoliate, it’s a rather convenient way to add exfoliating to my skin care routine. Which I normally forget to do on a regular basis. I also really enjoy the fact that it is natural. I can’t say for sure if my face looks any different but between the convenience and my face not reacting poorly, I’m happy with it and will continue to use it on a regular basis.
I’m not exactly sure how items are chosen for each season or how the choices are made for each member but the FabFitFun team do a great job. Again, I personally would have preferred the resistance band in my FabFitFun Summer 2018 subscription box but I do have hopes for future boxes. Maybe more exercise options, make-up brushes instead of make-up, maybe one of those cloth make-up removing towels. Because I don’t wear a lot of make-up and jewellery, I’m kind of getting overwhelmed. Although, I am only one person and obviously enough people enjoy everything in these boxes seeing as they always sell out.
The FabFitFun Summer 2018 subscription box sold out before I had even received mine. The Editor’s box is still available though and you can also sign-up for the Fall box. There is a link and a discount code for you to use on our Yup….We Like These page.
Well, this was a first for me. The FabFitFun Spring 2018 subscription box was the first box I have received from them, that I was only about 60% happy with. Don’t get me wrong, the box was filled with great products, there were just more things I didn’t want than I was expecting. Oh well, I guess no one is perfect. Considering how many people receive the FabFitFun subscription box and how many wonderful items are in each box, it’s impossible to please everyone, 100% of the time. This was just my turn to not be 100% pleased.
**There is a spoiler at the bottom of the page for the FabFitFun Summer 2018 box.**
ISH Lip Statement Palette
This is a wonderful lip palette by ISH (website) with 11 “intensely pigmented” colours as well as a balm. They contain shea butter, aloe vera, as well as jojoba & olive oils. See all wonderful. The only problem is I am not a lip colour person and I already have quite a collection of lipsticks and glosses. So unfortunately, this lip palette isn’t something I will use or keep.
Rachel Pally Reversible Clutch – I received Zahara
This Rachel Pally clutch (website) is so cute and colourful, I really wish I used clutches. Like ever. Even if I thought I would only randomly use it I would keep it, but alas, I will never use a clutch so this is another one I won’t keep. Unfortunately, this is the clothing/wearable type item I usually love in my boxes which means I didn’t get to enjoy my FabFitFun Spring 2018 subscription box like I have all the others in the past.
As the name explains, it is a reversible clutch and it is made with vegan leather, canvas (the floral pattern) and polyester on the inside. There is also quite a large pouch inside using the same floral patterned canvas material.
Anderson Lilley Sunset Collection Candle – I received Fresh Linen
When I first received this Anderson Lilley (website) candle, I loved all the ingredients and the fresh scent. After it sat on my counter unused, still in the box, for a few weeks, I started disliking the scent. It became more floral to me and I don’t like floral scents.
The candle contains mandarin orange, kaffir lime, clover, white tea, cyclamen, muguet, lavender, sandalwood, patchouli, tonka bean, and foin coupe. So quite the assortment of scents but they all work really well together. Even though it is wonderfully scented, I’m glad I didn’t take it out of the box to use because I won’t be keeping it. It is perfect for someone else with different nose smelling issues than me though.
Physique 57 Massage Roller
This is the fit part for the FabFitFun Spring 2018 subscription box. Actually, this Physique 57 (website) massage roller scared me when I first saw it. In my head, I saw a device used to cause pain with these small probes covering it. After using it, I have a different opinion. Yes, I do notice those pokey bits, but they don’t really cause me pain so much as they tend to make me feel like they are getting my blood flowing. I use this massage roller on my calves the most and they always feel good after.
Free People & Understated Leather Starry Eyed Travel Eye Mask
I love eye masks. I find them a great accessory for air travel to help keep distractions out when I am trying to sleep on a plane. This Free People (website) collaboration with Understated Leather (website) eye mask is even better, it comes with a cooling pack to help stressed out eyes.
My eye mask is grey. There is a soft material on the eye covering side and leather with shiny stars in silver and gold on the outside, for everyone to see. If you freeze the cooling pack in the freezer for no longer than 5-10 minutes you can use it to help stressed, tired, or sore, eyes.
Apparently, this Dermelect Cosmeceuticals (website) concealer is supposed to keep your nails healthy by treating them with vitamins, protein, and moisture. It is also supposed to fill the ridges on your nails. I tried it on one hand, with only one coat. I can’t speak about the health of my nails but I can tell you the nails with less ridges, I felt it was filling them. The nails with larger ridges would probably need more than one coat. What I liked best though was the really soft pink, almost shimmering, tinge. It looked natural but with a bit of something to it. This nail concealer can be worn as a base coat under your polish, or on it’s own.
Murad Skin Perfecting Lotion
This Murad (website) lotion is a nice light, oil-free moisturizer that I am looking forward to using once summer starts with the warmer temperatures. It is supposed to minimize the appearance of pores, refine texture and soothe redness and irritation. It also says it helps blemish prone skin while providing hydration but for whatever reason, after using it for a handful of days, my face was breaking out. Not sure if it was my food choices those days though so I will try again when the temperatures start heating up. It is a really nice light lotion though.
The two choices we had for the FabFitFun Spring 2018 were a Beauty item and a Jewellery item.
For the Beauty item choices:
KNC Beauty All Natural Collagen Infused Lip Mask (5 pack)
and the item I chose
KORRES Guava Body Butter
I picked this body butter because I LOVE the Korres (website) brand. It is the brand my face (which is crazy sensitive and picky) prefers. I honestly have nothing but good things to say about Korres and especially this body butter. The scent is delightful and subtle so it isn’t completely overwhelming all day long. It also does a great job moisturizing my dry legs.
The Jewellery item choices:
Maya Brenner Designs LOVE bracelet
and my choice
Ettika Day Dreamer Tassel Earrings
I chose these Ettika (website) earrings because so far I haven’t been impressed with the necklaces I have received in my previous FabFitFun boxes and I was concerned I wouldn’t like the bracelet. The problem is, while these tassel earrings are super cute, they are really far out of my style/comfort zone. Part of me thinks I should just give them away and part of me thinks I should step out of my earring fashion box and embrace them. They really are cute.
If you are still undecided about receiving your own FabFitFun subscription box, here is a sneak peek at one of the items from the Summer 2018 box. It is a brand new item, launching exclusively with FabFitFun. The Foreo Luna FoFo (website) is not only a pulsating device to provide you with a deeper clean when cleansing your face, but this one will also work with your smart phone. It will analyze your skin conditions and moisture level to create a personalized skin profile.
Head over to our Yup….We Like These page to find a link and a $10 OFF coupon code to sign-up and receive your own FabFitFun Subscription Box.
Woohoo! It’s that time again. Time for the quarterly delivery of my favourite subscription box. The FabFitFun Winter 2017 subscription box arrived this week. It was filled with treats to get you through the winter months in warmth, style, and feeling refreshed. It’s all about self-care and looking good.
This lotion feels silky smooth when applied. Not greasy at all. My hands felt so soft and there was no residue left behind on anything I touched. The scent though is a bit, I don’t know, almost soapy.
Unfortunately, with the weather getting colder, my skin is quite dry and the AHAVA hand cream didn’t work as well as my regular hand cream. I will continue using it though and this large container will last me quite a while. I get the feeling my summer skin will enjoy it more.
The FabFitFun Winter 2017 subscription box contained another exfoliate. I love how the box generally has a face treatment in it of some kind.
I have very sensitive skin and I found this exfoliating treatment quite abrasive. It felt like it was burning while it was on. For that reason I only left it on for less than a minute. My face stopped burning immediately when I rinsed it off though.
My face did not look red, it did not burn, it did not breakout. None of that happened. I was quite impressed with this exfoliating treatment.
My palette is Smokey which is exactly what I was hoping to get. I can wear those colours but I would not have been able to wear the nude colours. I am so excited to go out now with some wonderful smoky eyes.
This doucce eyeshadow palette is one of the design your own type. So, it is a magnetic case filled with a selection of replaceable eyeshadow choices. The only downside I can see is the lack of space for a mini brush, allowing me to travel in a minimalistic way. All in all I am happy with it though.
These super soft, cozy, socks are aloe infused to provide soothing relief to your tired feet after your workout. Or just anytime.
I can’t vouch for them providing soothing relief yet because I haven’t tried them when my feet were tired but I can however, tell you how crazy soft and cozy they are. My feet were toasty warm while they were surrounded by fuzzy goodness.
I received the poncho scarf in Charcoal. I did well with the selections of the FabFitFun Winter 2017 subscription box. Almost everything I received, was in the colours I hoped to get.
Normally I wouldn’t describe this poncho as a poncho. To me, it’s more like a big scarf with a slit in it so you could wear it over your shoulders. The charcoal colour with the stripes reminds me of these grey wool blankets my Mom used for moving and wrapping up our car in the winter. But this poncho scarf is softer, prettier, and much more stylish. It is reversible, plus you can wear it with a belt to add another look. I absolutely LOVE it!
I’ve been super excited to try this spray. I have a sensitive nose and I love smells. I also love essential oils. So spraying some of this on my pillow, with its blend of lavender, vetivert, and chamomile, is something I was very excited about.
This pillow spray did not disappoint. I can’t say it helped me sleep but it sure smells relaxing. I think I sprayed too much on my pillow though because my hair had that essential oil scent the following day. It wasn’t a hair washing day.
The scent of this hair mask makes me feel like I’m heading to the beach. Until I head out into the cold.
There are several ways to use this mask. I didn’t use any of them. Instead I chose to use it in the shower so my hair wasn’t towel dried. After I washed my hair I wrung out as much water as I could, then I applied the mask. I left it on for five minutes before I rinsed it out. It was softer and less dry and frizzy looking after though so I can only imagine how this mask would work if I followed the instructions. I really liked this hair mask.
You can get your own FabFitFun (affiliate link) subscription box by using that link and the code ‘FIRSTBOX’ for $10 OFF your first box. The Winter 2017 box is sold out but the Post Winter Editor’s Box is now available and it also contains more than $200 worth of amazing goodies.
With the subscription boxes coming from the USA up to Canada, you must decide if the shipping and dollar conversion are worth it for you. While I like the many different subscription box options offered by Quarterly Co., when I ordered the Fall 2016 Literary Box at $49.00 USA, I had no idea that between conversion, shipping and C.O.D. costs, I would be spending around $100.00 CAD. It was about the same for the Winter 2017 Literary Box.
I like the concept of the Literary Box by Quarterly Co. Each quarter you receive a box curated by a different author. Inside the box is a copy of the author’s upcoming release with personal notes on yellow sticky notes. The notes are obviously not hand-written for each box but they are copies of hand-written notes. It’s a great insight into the author’s story. And something you normally don’t get a chance to read.
Each Literary Box also contains two other books chosen by the curator, by writers they personally admire. As well as a few surprises that blend well with books and reading.
Literary Box Fall 2016 – Curated by Britt Bennett
First Edition Tea Company – Pride and Prejudice Blend – 10g
Custom mug with quote from book – “All good secrets have a taste before you tell them.”
What a great idea. A mug with an individual packet of tea. Just the thing to enjoy while you are taking some personal time to read one of the great books in the Quarterly Literary Box subscription box. The mug was specially printed with a quote from The Mothers by Brit Bennett and the tea is a wonderfully packaged addition.
Diamond Window Decal
This is something different. I’m not sure if I personally will ever use it but I know of a few little girls I could give it to who will probably enjoy it.
The books chosen for the Quarterly Fall Literary Box 2016 were about women. They were three authors I had never read before and probably wouldn’t have on my own because they aren’t my normal genre. I’m so happy I had the opportunity though because I enjoyed them.
The Mothers by Brit Bennett
Sula by Toni Morrison
We Should All Be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
All the books were good but I enjoyed reading Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s own stories and accounts of experiences she, or people she knows, have had with feminism and the limiting beliefs of others.
Literary Box Winter 2017 – Curated by Kayla Rae Whitaker
Winter 2017 Quarterly’s Literary Box
Bookmark to colour with artwork by Julie Doucet
A 5 pack of mini sized pencil crayons
This is a fun idea. A bookmark and colouring mixed together to give you an individualized bookmark for your reading enjoyment. The cool artwork was created by the cartoonist Julie Doucet.
Great idea but it left me feeling a little let down regarding the value of the Literary Box. I was kind of expecting more than a paper bookmark I could colour with mini pencil crayons. Perhaps a mini colouring book would have had a less thrifty look for the box.
Again, the books chosen for the Winter 2017 Quarterly Literary Box were three books by three authors I never would have normally taken the time to read. I loved the opportunity and I do really love those personalized notes.
The Animators by Kayla Rae Whitaker
The Argonauts by Maggie Nelson
The Annie Year by Stephanie Wilbur Ash
I hate to say it but overall the Quarterly Literary Box was very disappointing for me. It is a great idea, I love the opportunity to read books and authors I normally would not read, and those notes throughout the curating author’s book are awesome, but it just wasn’t worth the price. If I lived in the USA I would probably appreciate this box more but I felt the cost to receive it in Canada is more than it is worth. It wasn’t a good value for me.
Nothing related to books and reading but if you are looking for a subscription box with great value that will be delivered to your house on a quarterly basis, my recommendation is the FabFitFun subscription box. If you haven’t read it yet, here is the Fall 2017 review. You can click here (affiliate link) and use the code ‘WINTER10’ for $10 OFF your first purchase to enjoy the Winter 2017 box.
Thank you FabFitFun. Thank you for once again impressing me with your quarterly subscription box. The FabFitFun Fall 2017 box has a bit of a keep warm theme, depending on what you choose, because once again there were some options we were able to pick.
I’m actually really enjoying this feature where we get to choose a few items for our box. Most of the items in the FabFitFun subscription box are a surprise but we are given the opportunity to choose two items. Well, you can choose two different items or you can also buy the others and receive an additional 1-2 items.
The FabFitFun Fall 2017 subscription box and the Post Fall Editor’s box have both already Sold Out. It was unfortunate but it does give you an idea of how wonderful, and popular, this box is. You are welcome to use this affiliate link and the coupon code ‘WINTER10’ for $10 OFF the FabFitFun Winter 2017 Box though.
Ooooooohhhhh, this plush, wide scarf is so very soft. You could wear it as a nice big scarf or because it is long and wide, you could also wear it as a shawl. It does leave a bit of fuzz on your clothes but I am hoping that once I wash it, it won’t be as bad. It seems to shed less than last year’s blanket scarf though.
The perfect sized cute bag for your trip to the gym. It’s denim with white handles, white lettering and a zippered pocket on one end of the bag. There were a few different sayings but mine reads ‘Meet Me At The Barre’. The straps also wrap around the entire bag so you know it’s durable and the straps shouldn’t rip off.
Because of a few events I had to attend, I haven’t had a chance to try this mud mask yet but I will update the article when I do. Apparently, this mask can be abrasive. It is supposed to only be on your face for like 15 seconds for the first time because there might be a reaction. I can tell you it doesn’t have a scent though.
I really like this awesome duo. One end has a shiny lip balm that isn’t sticky like a lip gloss but it does have a very subtle tint as well as a really nice, warm, soft scent. Actually it wiped off clear on my hand so maybe the tint isn’t really there.
The other end has a lip crayon with a magnetic lid that is really cool when it snaps back into place. I’m not fond of the Tuscan Wine colour of the crayon but it glides on very smoothly. While it’s not sticky, it can smudge easily. Using the lip balm first with the crayon over top, allows your lips to stay moisturized while coloured up. All in one stick.
This cuticle oil is easy to apply but unfortunately it has a bit of a perfume scent to it. I say unfortunately but that’s just my preference. While it does take a bit of time for the oil to be absorbed, the idea is it will nourish and soften your cuticles. Mine are doing pretty good right now though so I can’t tell you if the oil works well.
This jewelry holder is a round, white ceramic base with a wire, heart shaped addition. It would be great for earrings. It would probably be a bit too short for necklaces unless you don’t mind them mostly sitting in the ceramic base and possibly get knotted up with each other. Bracelets would work better though.
Made from a soft nylon-type material, not the normal plastic you usually associate with cold packs, this pack can be heated or frozen. I love how versatile it is. It’s flexible as well as long and thin so it can also fold quite easily.
FabFitFun Fall 2017 Choices:
This time I made one of the two choices but for the second choice, I purchased the additional item. So instead of two items I ended up with 3. I’m happy with all three.
I really love this thin knit toque in a lovely cable knit pattern. It is stylish while also being a cold weather staple. There were two colours, pink and black. I was secretly kinda hoping for the pink one but I happily received the back one. It’s more versatile.
I found out that when you go to the dentist for your teeth whitening, they use an acid product that enters the minuscule holes in your teeth. It goes deep.
I haven’t used this powder yet but Charcoal stays on the surface so it probably won’t last as long or be as effective as the dentist’s whitening. The other problem is that it is quite abrasive so you should only use it like once every six months. Or even longer.
That being said, all you have to do is Google activated charcoal to find additional uses for this product. Like treating acne or insect bites. A great multi-use item.
I read some great reviews online for apple cider vinegar hair rinse so I was really looking forward to trying it. While it wasn’t the greatest thing since sliced bread, I did like. Word of warning though, there are oils in this rinse that left my shower, and feet, quite slippery. I had a rash on my back when I used this rinse and it really aggravated my rash. My back was really itchy for the rest of the day.
The rinse smells of vinegar but it cleaned my hair very well and it did condition it. I have hair that knots up easily though and I couldn’t brush it after I washed it so I did add a leave-in conditioner. My hair is wonderfully soft. More so than when I normally wash and condition it. I’ve also gone without washing it for two days since and it still looks great, not greasy at all.
I ended up going three days before I washed it again, with my regular shampoo and conditioner. My hair was still softer than it has been in years, it is usually quite dry and damaged from colouring.
There is one of those protective seals under the cap. You can poke a hole through it or do what I did, take the entire thing off. You will then have heaps of the rinse flow out onto your hair. It isn’t supposed to lather but when you put enough of it on your hair, it does sort of lather up.
The FabFitFun Subscription Box has so far not disappointed me. Actually the summer 2017 box is my third box and I have been very impressed with each of them. The value of products are always so much greater than the price of the box. For the first time, we were able to choose two of the products in the FabFitFun Summer 2017 subscription box. They were vague choices though so that is was still a surprise when we received the box. Choice one was traveler, artist or chef. Choice two was fitness or beauty. I chose traveler and fitness.
I like the concept of this necklace but I’m not fond of it. The hand-cut stones are very pretty but I feel the 18K gold overlay chain looks cheap. I also find it feels quite rough but that could be because of the way the links are positioned. The necklace is adjustable between 16”-18”. There is a small piece of larger links to use. I found it to be difficult to open and close too.
I like this glass water bottle. It has a colourful silicone sleeve and a plastic lid with built-in carry handle. My favourite water bottle is the S’well water bottle but this BKR bottle now comes in as a close second. It can go in the dishwasher. That is a big selling feature for me. It’s great for those
I was visiting family the day after I received my box so I asked my cousin’s wife to try this sunscreen lotion on her face while she played softball. She liked it. This is what she had to say: It didn’t even feel like she was wearing sunscreen. It wasn’t oily and it didn’t bleed into her eyes or mouth. She had poured water on her face but it didn’t stick, kind of like the lotion was moisture wicking. The bonus was there was no scent to it.
I haven’t used this eye concentrate long enough to soothe my dark circles or fine lines but I like it so far. It’s made with organic and natural ingredients. It also has a light texture with a faint fruity scent. It didn’t cause my face to break out and a little bit of it goes a long way.
Yup, I like this. Mine is the black and white alligator tie die. This ruana is a long rectangular shaped piece of material but about half of it is split in two vertically. Like a Y shape. It can be worn as a sarong, a scarf or it can be draped over your shoulders as a shawl. I love the versatility of it and it is a great item for travelling.
Company Bonus: 25% of each ruana sold supports Joyful Heart Foundation’s vision to create a world free of sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse.
I was not expecting to like this highlighter so much. It just feels so soft on my skin when I am applying it. I couldn’t tell you if works with HD filming but I can tell you it feels soft on my skin and it leaves it looking bronzed and almost shiny and glowing. I think I should check YouTube though to confirm I am applying it correctly. I ended up applying it over the fine lines around my eyes, where it drew too much attention, so I started wiping it off. I don’t think that is supposed to happen. I think it is probably applied lower.
This metallic, rose gold, vegan leather travel set is quite lovely. The luggage tag has Hands Off written in white on it. It would make your luggage stand out from others on the carousel. The passport cover has On The Road Again written on it in white. I’ve only had a passport cover for the last five years but I quite like them. I really like this set. I love the metallic colour and the fact that it is a vegan leather.
Okay I didn’t try this on any sore muscles but I did put it on my legs after my shower. I love the natural ingredients used and the refreshing peppermint fragrance. I felt both the cooling effect and the fragrance were very subtle. The oil also absorbed into my skin quite quickly. There was no oily residue left on my legs or my clothes.
**This contains an Affiliate Link. There is no additional cost to you for using it but I will receive a commission for referring you if you purchase a box.**
FabFitFun is one of my favourite subscription boxes. I feel it has great value. Yes the prices are in US dollars and you have to pay to ship to Canada, but I found the value of products in the box far exceeded the price of the box so it was definitely worth it for me.
By clicking here and using the code “WINTER10” you get $10.00 off your first box purchase. There are two plans to choose from. A seasonal plan (1 box) or an annual plan (4 quarterly boxes).
Unfortunatly Papier Mail Subscription Box cancelled their planned launch due to not enough pre-launch signups to make it work.
I have this sort of weird love for paper products. I’ve had it since I was a small child. I can’t explain it and I have no idea when it began, but it’s still with me. Obviously, you can imagine my curiosity when I found out about Papier Mail (website). A Canadian monthly subscription box of paper goods and stationary. Thankfully, earlier this week I had the opportunity to discuss this exciting new subscription box with the box’s creator.
The box hasn’t launched yet so you will have to wait until the end of June or beginning of July to sign-up for a subscription, but it sounds fun. Every month there will be a new theme. You will receive 5-7 paper goods designed on that theme. A mix of greeting cards, postcards, notecards, stationary or an art print. If you receive more than one greeting card in a box though, each will be of a different design. You will not receive the same design on any of the paper goods, more than once. I was really excited to find out that all of the paper goods will be designed by local artists. Apparently, companies are also being researched who could bring these designs to life, on recycled paper. Offering a mix of regular paper and recycled paper when possible.
While there is no price until the subscriptions become available, the approx. price range I was given, sounds very reasonable. We’ll see what it ends up being but I was told it will include taxes and shipping to both Canada and the USA.
Right now you can head over to the Papier Mail website and sign up for the draw to win 12 months of this exciting new monthly subscription box.
Now, while you are getting excited and poised to bookmark the website so you will be able to sign-up for a subscription as soon as possible, I have even more information for you.
Papier Mail and Trees
Papier Mail has also partnered with One Tree Planted (website). This means, for every subscription box sold, a tree will be planted. A company selling paper, that is also replacing trees. I really like the responsibility involved in making a sustainable decision like that.
Not only is the creator very excited about her new subscription box, but I am too. Aren’t you?
*Sponsored Post* – I was offered one of the first month’s subscription boxes for discussing Papier Mail with you. This in no way affected the contents of this post and all opinions expressed are my own. Once the subscription box has been received, an update will be provided.
October seemed to be the month for variety with subscription boxes and the October Petit Vour subscription box (check them out here) was no different. Make-up, body, and face. There was even soap, which I haven’t had in a subscription box before. One again the Petit Vour subscription box impressed me with their choice of products as well as the quality of said products.
Red Apple Lipstick
So, before October 2016 I had never worn a red lipstick, I have always chosen a more neutral toned colour. Now I have two new favourite lipsticks and they are both red. This Red Apple lipstick is a rich wine toned red that takes very little to not just cover my lips, but to last for hours. Also, lipsticks always claim to be moisturizing when they really aren’t but this Red Apple lipstick very much is. I applied very little, took most of that off and yet my lips still looked such a wonderfully, rich, red and they felt so moisturized. Not sticky at all. My lips did change the colour a bit pink after I was wearing it for a while but they still looked lovely.
Apoterra Skincare Tulsi Body Oil – 29.57ml
Oh man I love this oil. It has a wonderful scent, which is good because it does end up being left behind on your clothes, but it is also moisturizing. I do wish it had some sort of a dispenser though, I’m always worried that an opened bottle of oil will cause me to dump it all over when I’m putting some in my hands.
Kahina Giving Beauty Beldi Soap – 25g
Yup, this was one of the most unexpected and yet, enjoyed items from a subscription box. The soap was a firm type of gel, I guess you could describe it, that lathered up quite well, had a gentle eucalyptus scent, and was a great dark shade so that you could find it in the shower when it didn’t stay in your hand or dissolve on your skin. I should explain. Because of the texture of the soap, I found it ended up staying in my hand longer than I realized which meant I found pieces of it on my bathtub. I also found pieces of it on my body that I hadn’t worked onto my skin enough and it hadn’t dissolved yet.
There were instructions for skin cleansing & softening, that I used, which meant after 10 minutes in the shower I massaged the soap onto my skin and left it on for a further 10 minutes. I did however sway from the instructions in that at this point I didn’t rinse off the soap and exfoliate with my shower gloves, I exfoliated with the shower gloves then rinsed off the soap.
Doing the skin cleansing & softening procedure is a bit much for every day but I would enjoy it weekly. My skin felt lovely after my shower.
PAI Rosehip Bioregenerate Oil – 2ml
This oil says a lot of good things but when the directions told me to use only three drops, I started to become suspicious. I shouldn’t have though because three drops ended up, surprisingly, covering my entire face. It explains that for best results you should use it without moisturiser unless you have dry skin. I tried it by itself but unfortunately I have the dry skin they described so I had to also use a bit of my regular moisturiser. It didn’t feel overly greasy on my face though and it also has a very subtle fragrance. The brand claims to understand sensitive skin and I can tell you that my face didn’t react in any negative way to this oil. I didn’t try it long enough to know if it for sure would even out my skin tone but I really liked how it made my face feel.
The October GlossyBox subscription box packaging wasn’t boring, it was of course, the always beautiful standard pink one. Man this company and their packaging. They have set the packaging standard so high that I was almost bored with it for October.
There was a great mix of product this month. Face, hair and make-up, and I enjoyed most of it, a lot. I also really enjoyed how everything in the October GlossyBox subscription box was full size, except for one item. It was quite a treat.
Decleor Hydrating Oil Serum – 5ml
Wow this hydrating oil serum from Decleor really was very hydrating. It has a very appealing scent that doesn’t overpower while you are wearing it and because it is an oil serum it isn’t sticky in any way. It just felt so smooth and soft when I applied it. The only downside is that once I applied it, and then my moisturizer, I spent the whole day knowing it wasn’t fully absorbed into my skin. From the beginning, it left residue on my fingers every time I touched my face. I love how soft and hydrated it makes my face feel though.
Emite Lip & Cheek Tint – 6ml
This is a very nice liquid tint that definitely lasts. Because it is a red that doesn’t work for me I applied it to my hand and when I washed it off, there was still a remnant of colour left. I’ve never used liquid cheek or lip tint before so I don’t know if that is something that always happens when using a liquid or if the Emite Tint is special in its lasting power. It was easy to apply though and was a really, nice, true colour to how it looks in the bottle.
Masque Bar Apricot Sheet Mask – 21ml (1 sheet mask)
Okay, I have really wanted to try a sheet mask for a while now. With all the hype of sheet masks and seeing them everywhere, I just wasn’t sure which one to try though so I was very excited to get one in the October GlossyBox subscription box. I loved this apricot sheet mask, it said it would moisturize my face and it did. The scent was sweet and sitting on the couch watching TV with it covering my face, was surprisingly fun. I don’t get claustrophobic but it was a bit awkward and enclosing. While a paste type mask would be more comfortable, the ease of applying a sheet mask totally makes up for it. After I took the mask off, I didn’t like how my face felt sticky so I rinsed it and applied my normal moisturizer, just much less of it.
Niacin & Caffeine Root Stimulator Spray – 118ml
I don’t really have a problem with hair breakage and my hair loss is rather minimal and can be tied back to stress, but I’m still trying this spray. I’m always trying to get my hair back as healthy as it used to be so it doesn’t hurt to give it a go. I have only tried it a few times so far though so I haven’t noticed much of a difference yet. I didn’t enjoy the way it made my hair feel though but I am pretty picky and really like my hair to feel & look, natural & product free.
Unani Milk Cleanser – 200ml
One thing I wasn’t expecting from this cleanser, the impressive, silky feel of it while I washed my face. I still can’t get over how it felt, it was so unexpected but lovely. The scent is quite powerful but because it is a cleanser and it washes off, it doesn’t stick with you and last. The cleanser worked, didn’t dry out my already dry face, and didn’t cause my face to breakout after. All bonus points. If I could, I would have the fragrance (whether natural or added) toned down a few notches but other than that, I liked it.
Once again the product in the Terra Bella subscription box completely (website here) impressed me. The October box contained items that not only made me wonder if I was actually going to use them but if it was even worth the price of the box. Yes, to both. I have enjoyed each item; I will continue to use each of them and they were definitely worth the cost of the box. The variety of all-natural products the Terra Bella subscription box offers each month, continues to impress me.
Wicked Escentuals – Caffeine Eye Serum – 10ml
I’m not a coffee drinker but even I loved this Wicked Escentuals Caffeine eye serum. It not only has a coffee scent but there are even little black bits, of what I assume are coffee grounds, in this serum. The roller applicator allows you to apply the serum gently which is appreciated considering it is around your eyes.
Urban Oreganics Raw Cacao Mask – 56.7g
This mask felt nice when I was putting it on and the hint of chocolate scent was an added bonus. It hardened up really well, I couldn’t move my face, but it also washed off very easily. My face felt amazing afterward too. So soft and smooth. It did feel a bit dry and it used a bit more moisturizer than normal but it had also been approx. 60-90 minutes since I had washed my face so I don’t think it was just the mask causing that.
The Parlor Apothecary Cuticle Oil – 15ml
This is a really nice, moisturizing cuticle oil. I love the brush applicator. Every time I get body oil there is no applicator and nothing to regulate the amount of oil I pour out into my hand so this brush was a welcome surprise. It takes a while for the oil to absorb into the skin but once it does it left my cuticles feeling rather soft. UPDATE: One day I realized I had cracked skin on my cuticle so I applied some of the cuticle oil to it and allowed it to absorb naturally while I watched tv. I didn’t think anything of it until the next afternoon when I looked at my hand again & the crack had healed. I am a full on believer in this oil. I hope it works as well for everyone.
Feet Tea – Foot Soak Tea Bags – 1 tea bag
What a wonderful way to spoil yourself and make your feet feel lovely at the same time. This foot soak tea had lavender which gave it an amazing aroma plus helped me relax, but also mixed with the Epsom salt, soothed my tired feet and made them feel so soft. For someone who doesn’t normally soak her feet, this was an experience I would like to repeat. I’m so glad I had the opportunity to try it.
***Don’t forget to click on the links (product names) above for the companies and their products. They each have some amazing items, not just the ones in the Terra Bella subscription box.
Oh my gosh! The October Ipsy subscription bag was soooo cute! I love the little black ghost zipper tab, not to mention the cute Halloween themed pattern on the bag itself. The items inside the bag also had really cool packaging. I just loved this Halloween themed bag and the products inside, for the October Ipsy subscription bag.
Adesse Nail Lacquer – 11ml the Liquid Chrome Collection
WOW! Adesse is an organic infused nail lacquer that is not only infused with bamboo extract, oils & a few Omegas but it is also free from 12 of the most toxic and harmful chemicals. You know, and this is an awesome colour that changes with the light. Lots of positives for this Adesse nail lacquer. The only negative is the harsh, overwhelming scent. Smells chemical but obviously it can’t be with ingredients like theirs.
Sally’s Box Aqua Moist Gel Cream
At first I was a little worried this gel cream wouldn’t provide the moisturizing required by my face but that was not a problem. It was really nice to apply and it felt great on my skin. It’s too bad it caused my face to break-out the next morning.
Tatcha Pure Cleansing Oil – 15ml
YES, YES, YES!!! This is the perfect solution to taking off my make-up! My face gets aggravated when I have to wipe off the make-up but this oil is so simple to use and cleans it off completely. All I had to do was take a teaspoon of oil in my dry hands and massage it onto my dry face for a few minutes. Then I rinsed with warm water and applied moisturizer. That’s it. No scrubbing, no harsh rubbing. It was amazing! My face did feel dry before I applied the moisturizer but the foundation I was wearing seems to dry my face out. This is the perfect solution to taking off my full face make-up though, I absolutely loved it.
Hot Mama Shadow/Blush – 0.57g
First I have got to say, I love this packaging. It’s a seriously convenient, mini version of the larger size. This is a shimmering, pink, peach colour that goes on so smoothly without flecks of colour being left all over your face.
teeez Eve’s Ready to Wear Lipstick – in Romantic Red
This teeez lipstick not only went on so smooth, creamy and wonderfully but it even has a lovely scent. The colour of the lipstick tube looks like a real red, red but once on my lips it looked more like a pink red. It felt moisturizing while it was on and it also stayed on pretty good, even after I washed it off with soap and water, there was still some residual colour that came off on the tissue so this one is going to last.
The October BeautyBox5 subscription box had a real mix of products this month. There were even new items I had never tried before, which totally impressed me. I like when there is an assortment. The BeautyBox5 subscription box had something for the body, nails as well as perfume and make-up this month.
Chella Highlighter Pencil – 1.4g in Ivory Lace
I’ve never used a highlighting pencil before so this was another new one for me. The pencil went on so soft and smooth and blended so easily. I have fair or light skin depending on the colouring system being used, and this colour was wonderful for me. I liked this pencil and loved that it was included in the box.
Color Me Femme Red Fragrance
I don’t normally wear perfume because my body chemistry changes the scents so drastically but I really liked this fragrance so I tried it. I put a small amount on one wrist but it was quite overwhelming so I only left it on for about 20-30 minutes before I washed it off. This perfume, which has a guarantee to last 6 hours, definitely lasts. Washing it off only diminished the scent, it did not take it off completely, it did eventually wear off though. This would definitely be the perfume to get if you want one that will last all evening.
Emery + Ivory Custom Nail Appliques
I’ve never used nail appliques (or nail polish stickers is what I call them) before but they were a lot easier to apply than I expected them to be. I even ended up only using half of the sticker for a few of the fingers which was a great back-up plan if I messed up on my first try. I had a tendency to apply them with a bit of overlap at the bottom of my nail onto my finger which meant they didn’t adhere the way they were intended but that is probably because I am a newbie. It might explain why they moved and even started coming off after only about a dozen hand washes.
Real Her Moisturizing Lipstick
I have never worn red lipstick before but when I saw this one, it looked like such a dark, rich red, I had to immediately try it. It ended up being a much lighter red on my lips than the tube looked but I think that is because I was convinced it would be one of those dark colours that are in right now. In person it looks like it could be the Wine colour but in the photo it shows the much lighter colour that was on my lips. I do love it though. The Real Her Lipstick stayed on my lips amazingly for hours before I had to wipe it off to start eating. I was quite impressed with both the richness and the lasting power of the colour, as well as how it made my lips feel. I will now be wearing red lipstick!
Amlactin ULTRA Hydrating Body Cream – 28g
This is a very thick, rich, and moisturizing cream. Once I applied it on my legs, they actually felt like they were tingling. My legs also looked quite hydrated. I am a little concerned over all of the warnings on the package, including against sun exposure but if that isn’t an issue for you, then this lotion seems to do its job.
For the October TopBox subscription box, when I received the email offering choices, I once again stuck with the regular monthly subscription box but this time I chose the organza bag for packaging. I think I preferred the organza bag over the decorative cylinder container for the TopBox subscription boxes. Aesthetically speaking, I liked both, but there will be more opportunities to reuse the organza bag. There was quite the variety of products this month from TopBox and I really enjoyed that.
Harvey Prince Organics Keravegan Repairing & Hydrating Masque – 30ml
Being chemically damaged, I am happy to try products that will bring some much needed moisture to my frizzy hair. I liked this repairing & hydrating hair masque by Harvey Prince Organics. I applied it after I washed and conditioned my hair, then I left in on for approx. 5 minutes. I decided not to add any of the normal product I use to help with the frizz so that I could decide if this masque really worked. It did. If my hair wasn’t so damaged, or if I used it on a regular basis, it would definitely help more. Once it was dry, my hair was a lot less frizzy than it normally is.
eyeko London Fat Eye Stick – 4g in Smoke
I love the concept of this eyeko London Fat Eye Stick eyeshadow, and I really love the colour but unfortunately I didn’t love the product on me. This eyeshadow goes on super easy and very smoothly with a real creamy feel to it. Unfortunately I can’t decide if my eyelids are always greasy or sweaty but either way when I applied this eyeshadow it ended up just creasing almost immediately and I lost the colour off most of my eyelid very quickly.
Dr Roebuck’s PURE – 20ml
Dr Roebuck’s PURE was a very thick, heavy moisturizing cream that absorbed into my skin and wasn’t greasy at all. It is also fragrance free. While it felt like my face couldn’t breathe, my skin obviously liked it because I didn’t have any breakouts after trying it. It also provided the added moisturizing that my skin requires.
Ciate Nail Polish – 13.5ml in Antique Brooch
The Ciate Antique Brooch nail polish isn’t your average glittery nail polish. There are also some larger rose-gold flecks with the gold glitter to add a bit more texture and colour to your nails. This nail polish can be worn alone to sparkle-up your hands and complete your look for an evening or you can add it on top of your current favourite nail polish for a little extra pizzaz. In the picture above with the applied nail polish, you are seeing my Mom’s nails with two coats of the antique brooch applied over a clear base coat. It didn’t matter if there was a base coat or not when taking it off though. Both times were easier than I was expecting after trying to remove other glittery nail polishes.
